2011 Annual Conference

ANZAPPL Conference 2011

Conference Details

This year’s Conference, Crime and Punishment: The Rising Punitiveness, will be co-hosted by the Australian & New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (New Zealand) and the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry).
The theme is very relevant in this time of younger criminals, increasing prison populations, and longer prison sentences.
The Conference programme includes presentations from an impressive array of keynote speakers, from New Zealand and overseas. We are delighted that Rt Hon Dame Sian Elias, Chief Justice New Zealand, has agreed to open the Conference.

The Conference Committee looks forward to welcoming you to Wellington.

Early bird registration closes on Friday October 14th.

Congress Venue

Recently voted by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 cities for 2011, “Wellington is Cool-with-a-capital-C, crammed with more bars, cafes
and restaurants per capita than New York, and a slew of gourmet producers including some 10 independent coffee roasteries”.

The conference will be held at the Wellington Convention Centre.

The Convention Centre consists of two unique buildings next to each other; the beautifully restored Wellington Town Hall built in 1904, and the architecturally modern Michael Fowler Centre.  The Centre is just a short walk from all major hotels and banks, surrounded by the city’s cafes, shops, culture and nightlife, and adjoins the Civic Square - an inner city urban park bordered by the city library, art gallery and children’s science museum.

Annual General Meeting

The 31st Annual General Meeting of ANZAPPL will take place at 4.45pm on Saturday 19 November, 2011 at the Wellington Convention Centre, 111 Wakefield St, Wellington, New Zealand.  All member are welcome and encouraged to attend and vote.
